Jake Builds Games: About Me
I’m a UX/Product Designer with a background in game development QA, focused on creating intuitive, user-centered experiences. I’ve contributed UI components to Playtron’s GameOS, a Linux-based platform designed to streamline the PC gaming experience, working within Figma and an established atomic design system.
My experience across six shipped titles on console, PC, and VR has shaped how I approach design. Through QA, I developed a deep understanding of how users interact with systems—identifying friction points, improving usability, and helping align features with intended player experience. I’m especially interested in how onboarding, feedback, and interaction design shape how users learn and engage with a product.
Outside of work, I’ve spent years helping players learn complex systems in Destiny 2 and running tabletop RPG campaigns. These experiences reinforced my belief that great design isn’t just about functionality—it’s about guiding users, reducing friction, and creating experiences that feel intuitive and rewarding from the first interaction.
